Race Rules

“One and done.” The first car to legally contact the finish line wins. If neither racer finishes, the car traveling furthest wins unless a lane or class infraction decides the race.

Class Rules

Kids (10 and under)

  • 1/10 scale
  • 3S battery limit
  • Cars supplied by Horizon Hobby and RC Sand Sharks
  • Children 10 and under

RTR (2WD and 4×4)

  • 1/10 scale vehicles only
  • 3S battery limit
  • Factory hop-ups allowed when intended for that model
  • Stock electronics and body required
  • Maximum tire diameter: 130mm
  • No chassis modifications or kit cars

2WD

  • 1/10 scale
  • 3S battery limit
  • No modified chassis except a stretched chassis up to a 13.5-inch wheelbase

2WD Modified — 3S Mod

  • 1/10 scale 2WD vehicles only
  • 3S battery limit
  • Minimum 16-inch wheelbase

4WD

  • 1/10 scale 4WD vehicles only
  • 3S battery limit
  • Maximum 13.5-inch wheelbase

4–6S

  • 1/8, 1/7, 1/6, or 1/5 scale only
  • 6S battery limit

Psycho (12 and older)

  • 1/6 or 1/5 scale only
  • 8S and higher

Unlimited

  • Anything goes
  • Vehicle must pass safety inspection

General Rules

  1. No gas or nitro cars permitted.
  2. Batteries must have a manufacturer label showing cell count.
  3. Cars must have a body covering the battery.
  4. Cars must be inspected before their class stages.
  5. All racers and cars must be staged for the first round.
  6. One entry per class; racers may not switch cars.
  7. The referee must approve chassis modifications.
  8. No test hits once racing has started.
  9. We run on the light; only the Race Master determines a jump.
  10. Racers must attend drivers’ meetings and be ready when staged.
  11. Return cars by the return road or carry them back.
  12. Lane and race order are decided by coin flip or chip draw.
  13. The Race Master has the final say.
  14. Hitting side nets or crossing lanes is an automatic DQ.
  15. Tires must be soft and pliable — no aluminum or hard plastic.

All rules are subject to change at the discretion of the Race Master.
